Concessions Divert More Than 83% Of Organic Matter From The Landfill

Aggie Stadium at the University of California, Davis represents a lot more than school spirit; it represents a commitment to ‘sustain our future’ as the first-ever ‘zero waste’ college stadium.

Beginning early in 2007, Dining Services, UC Davis R4 Recycling Program, UC Davis Solid Waste, UC Davis Athletic Department, and Jepson Prairie Organics worked closely to plan and implement post-consumer composting in a facility that would eventually serve more than 45,000 people in five home games, in the first season. Dining Services Receives Prestigious Sustainability Award

University Dining Services receives Office of President Sustainability Award for Innovate Waste Reduction measure. As part of the Sustaining Our Future initiative, Tercero Dining Room was acknowledged for diverting 97% of waste from the landfill to either Jepson Praire Organics (post-consumer composting facility) or recycling centers.
From Waste to Watts: Biofuel Bonanza
